The Luther League

"The Young Peoples Society" or as it is now called "The Luther League was organized by Rev. Theimer. This society wants to be a means to foster a closer acquaintanceship among our young people. We want to interest them in church work. The League meets on the Third Thursday of each month. Our Luther League motto is: With Christ—For Christ.

In 1958 a major change occured when under the leadership of Pastor Jandrey the Luther League of St. Peter and St. Paul, Johnson Twp. merged with a combined membership of 25. In the spring of 1959 a drive was begun to raise funds for the national convention at Miami, Florida. The leaguers met this challenge by car washes, bake sales, rummage sales serving the first annual Easter breakfast as well as having coffee after each lenten service. In June of 1960 a Greyhound bus was chartered and the convention m August the same year was attended by the entire League membership as well as some guests from surrounding Leagues.

Our young people will never forget this exciting, inspirational experience. The determination and hard work of these young people, parents and advisors laid the foundation for future years and the membership attended the next general convention which was held at Detroit, Michigan in 1964 and also the most recent one in Dallas, Texas just this past August 1967. It is expected the future conventions will be well represented bv Leaguers from St. Peter, Brunsville.
